How should organisations prioritise what to change?
Our motto is envision, design, build, activate. If you’re not clear on where you intend to go, and why, in a given timeframe as a cross-functional team, then all hope is lost for velocity.
Even when you look at something as simple as the timeframe, you can all use the same words, but if you’re thinking about different timeframes, you might as well be talking different languages.
Once you’re clear on where you intend to go and in what timeframe, it is far easier to determine your priorities. It’s definitely not necessary to have giant charts with 1,000 different interdependencies – you need to have a clear vision and think, if we only do one thing to achieve this ‘envision statement’, what would that be?
Typically, if you get a cross-functional team together, they will come up with three things that are the most important priorities. As a result of that, the project is going to be better, faster and less expensive.
