From your perspective, what is the key to scaling Reveal Group’s RPA team while maintaining company culture? What factors do you consider?
One of the primary drivers among the students who are going to be potential employees is ESG (Environmental and Social Governance). When we talk about CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), they want to hear about it through the quality of pay for women, and how you respond to large social justice issues on a global scale. CSR and ESG are becoming primary drivers for not only who people want to work with, but who they want to consume from – it has fundamentally changed.

How are you helping client organisations become more agile and resilient?
The calibre of your people is central to building agility and resilience. You have to work with people you want to be there for a long period of time; people who want to win. The reason why only 17% of CEOs have achieved scale with digital transformation is because somebody has to do the actual work. If you’re still stuck after two years and haven’t seen a return on investment, if you don’t have the right use cases and you’re not sourcing and upskilling internal candidates, then what are you doing?
If people are investing in large transformation initiatives and can reduce the cost of doing business by a significant number, then your operating costs are down, your revenue is up, and your stock price goes up. If you spend $1.5 million in the right way, you’ll get back 7x your investment – that’s not a bold statement. I see use cases in professional services where we can get 1,000% ROI.

How has the pandemic influenced the way your firm is delivering transformation services?
I’m really proud of how we have embodied the culture that we need to succeed, not only in the new normal, but into the future. We have CSR that galvanises our employees. We have scheduled time during the working week, just to have casual banter, to talk about our favourite meals, what we like to do.
Lots of companies aren’t working on their culture because we’re in a time of high stress. Some people have been remote working solidly for two years and haven’t even turned on their camera. I’m not judging anyone for that. But the company has to be brave enough to put humanity back into the meat of the working week.
I was servicing my old car and the mechanic said to me, “You put too many miles on it.” And that is employee disenfranchisement. You’ve put your employees under too much duress, the car is breaking down, and you need to buy a new car. Some people haven’t seen their colleagues and co-workers in 18 months now. If you have an environment that’s as healthy as it can be, we need to bring together smaller groups and focus on improving the quality of relationships and engagements.

How is your firm enhancing its own customer engagement approach and evolving its marketing strategy as a result of the move to virtual?
The way you improve customer service for your customers, is about creating experiential learning for your employees. I can't get better at a thing if I don't do it.
We all need to work far harder to achieve a genuine culture of collaboration. Getting this culture right fosters an environment of experiential learning for all employees. Collaboration is not just about the doors being open, it's about having a pragmatic approach to genuinely matriculating (advancing) employees.
